Hi All, Yet another Blog post about solving the Obtaining IP Address and Authenticating issues with the Mobile phones, that’s keep looping the same error whilst connecting to Connectify Hotspot On your Laptop/Desktop.
The First basic thing is to allow Firewall to accept the Program traffic. For example Connectify Services like Connectifyd, ConnectifyNetworkService and Connectify service programs has to be allowed though Windows Advanced Firewall settings. This can be achieved as seen in the below screenshots.
You access Advanced Firewall Properties using Control Panel, and then System and Security and then Firewall Settings, there in the Left hand Panel you seeĀ advanced settings like shown in the below screenshots.
As you can see the program is allowed in the inbound properties, and the same has to be done with the Outbound traffic as well. If your Firewall is being managed by thirdparty softwares like My Application do, then you have to configure settings at the Thirdparty software side.
I am using ESET Smart Security 6 for the firewall Protection, so, if yours is of same, watch this Video, on how to create new Zone Rules to allow Connectify or any other program or service or network that is explicitly Being rejected by ESET for communication.
So, watch this video and solve your connectify issues or related network issues with the ESET Smart Security.
Hope this helps!
Hi There

Hey, please create a rule again or else try custom that will ask you to allow rules. Please try all over again and let me know if any issues . Btw which eset version you’re using?

Hey, nice guide, but i still have a problem, I use AVG firewall and I allowed all applications inside the Connectify folder, but I still cannot connect for some reason, but if I disable AVG’s firewall it instantly connects. Do you have any idea what I can do to fix it?

I managed to connect to the hotspot by forwarding the ports on this site: http://support.connectify.me/article/7-how-do-i-configure-my-firewall-to-work-with-hotspot
but it doesn’t let me connect to the internet, it just says Connected, no internet.

And, more importantly, do u have switched off the Antivirus program temporarily and tried the Connectify and able to solve the problem?

Simpler ESET SS solutoin … (does the same but in a different and simpler way)
Follow this steps for ESET SMART SECURITY.
1. Follow the given procedure in the video until you see the firewall (network) option.
2. Select Interactive filtering instead of Automatic. (Make sure the devices you want to connect to connectify me are with WIfi turned off)
3. After selecting interactive mode, ESET SS will give you a some of the allow deny options for some applications, now allow all the CONNECTIFY ME dialogues and make them a rule by checking the same button.
4. Turn on the wifi on the devices you want to connect to connectify me.
5. Connect to connectify me in your devices.
6. Now ESET SS will again ask for inbound and outbound traffic, check your device name and then and then select the ALLOW Button with making a rule checked.
7. Done. Now your devices must be connected to the connectify me.
8. Turn on the automatic filtering in Eset SS.
Good luck.
Hope this helps

Hi,
That was cool, and very informative. But one problem lies here… If you have selected interactive mode, then future applications blocks and services blocks become nuisance by asking you for permission everytime. That’s why I have not chosen that scenario.
Even though your solution is brilliant and useful for lot of them. Thanks
Cheers!
